When you walk into a room full of strangers, how do you tell your story?
Most people talk about themselves related to work or family. But what if you could talk about yourself in a way that would intrigue, surprise and delight the listener? That's our goal at our ever-popular annual Parlay House "Books That Brought Us Here" event. This year, we're hosting it at one of NYC's most beloved literary landmarks, the Strand Bookstore.
Here's how it works:
- You join us for food and wine, bringing a book (fiction or non-fiction but not something you are promoting) that tells a tantalizing tidbit about your own life story in some way.
- We'll wear our book titles on badges during the evening to stimulate discussion.
- At the end of the evening we'll take home the book brought by a member whose story is meaningful to us in some way.
The exchange will help us share secrets, create unexpected connections, and add to our reading list to boot. We can’t wait to see you there.

- The event is being hosted at the flagship Strand Bookstore in the Rare Book Room, located at 828 Broadway, New York, NY 10003.
- Attendees are welcome to browse the bookstore before and after the event. The store hours are 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM.
- Parlay House events are open to all who identify as women.
