In this conversation, death doulas Penny Waugh and Kara Hallett invite us to rethink our “death-style” — the choices that shape how we’re cared for at the end of life, how we’re remembered, and what becomes of our bodies. From green burials to disco-party send-offs, they’ll explore today’s surprising and meaningful alternatives to the conventional funeral industry options.

Speaker Bios:
Penny Waugh and Kara Hallett are certified death doulas with The Death Network, a San Diego based end-of-life service provider. They guide individuals and families through end-of-life planning with compassion, clarity, and creativity. Their work centers on helping people approach death with intention and dignity, grounded in personal values. Together, they make a traditionally uncomfortable topic feel accessible, human, and even empowering.
